Interrailing in… Japan? Say hello to Japan Rail Planner

Did you know that you can Interrail in Japan? Well, that’s not quite true… but there is a Japan Rail pass (or JR pass) which is very similar to an Interrail pass. The Japan Rail pass lets you travel on the Japanese rail network for a set period of time – 7, 14, or 21 days to be precise. Pretty similar to an Interrail pass right? Right.

In 2018, we (the co-founders of Interrail Planner) went to Japan to try out this JR pass, and we had a great time. However, while planning our Japan rail trip, we experienced a lot of the same issues that we faced when planning our first Interrail trips, which is what inspired us to start Interrail Planner in the first place. There was no Interrail Planner equivalent for Japan Rail that was tackling these frustrations, so we got inspired again – this time, to create Japan Rail Planner, a free trip planning tool for Japan Rail!

Just like Interrail Planner has done for planning big trips around Europe, Japan Rail Planner takes the stress out of planning a big trip around Japan. It simplifies all that time-consuming stuff like searching for accommodation, flights, and working out how long it takes to get from one place to another. It has all the other Interrail Planner features too, like the trip cost calculator and the option to share plans via a link.

The new website has just launched, and if you enjoyed your Interrail trip, you should definitely consider planning a Japan rail trip with Japan Rail Planner. You might want to follow our new Instagram account for amazing photos of Japan too!
